Joe and Tommy Gibson Scranton, PA 18504 e-mail: gibsonbros.rodz@yahoo.com We would like to introduce ourselves to you. Joe and Tommy Gibson, ages 28 & 23, love Hot rods, modeling and cool designs. Our dad did modeling when he was young and taught us as we were growing up, now we are hooked for good. Over the years we have become actual model “customizers” . The customs we build are not straight from the box model kits, but a form of Artwork. Creating a design and then melting and fabricating our scratch plastic into a one-of-a-kind custom model car, including custom paint. the cars are usually chopped, channeled, and sectioned with custom interiors, motors and under carriages. We entered our first model car contest in 2008 at the Darryl Starbird show. Our customized ‘49 Mercury won “1st Place Custom Trophy” . This car was also featured in Model Car Magazine of that year, Aug/Sept issue. Other model builders were very impressed with our talents and encourged us to persue our dreams. We have entered our model cars in July 2009 Goodguys Columbus, Ohio, and won Best Custom and Best Street Rod. In September 2010 Goodguys Mt. Pocono, PA, our cars won 8 or the 11 awards. July of 2011 at the Syracuse Mini Nationals Tommy proudly won the Gene Winfield Award for his total custom, the "Hemishere", which is a bubble top with the wild green pearl paint, created from the 1978 Little Red Express model kit. Joey and Tommy together built the 1/8 scale of a 1932 full fendered roaster. With custom grill, and dash both totally designed & fabricated from scrap plastic. This was a crowd pleaser at the Syracuse Mini Nationals and won "The Colonel Richard Westfield" Award. As you can see in the attached photos, we have also worked together on building a 1936 Plymouth coupe model car for a owner of the “real” 1936 Plymouth. All of which was chopped, channeled, tubbed, Hemi engine, correct paint colors, pinstripping, detailed interior, right down to the exact license plate and inspection sticker on the windshield. The owner was extremely satisfied and in Ahh of the total detail, and also felt we are worthy of reward and recognition. Anothe real car is the 1948 Oldsmobile, that was a Gene Winfield top 12 pick at the 2011 Syracuse Nationals. We customized a 1/24 scale model for the owner and we are proud to say it came in 2nd place at the 2011 Syracuse "Mini" Nationals for "replica category". 2012 Syracuse "Mini" Nationals, we were again delighted to be awarded 5 trophy's including once again the "Gene Winfield Award" and "The Colonel Richard Westfield" Award. This year on the outragous total custom bubble top, 1/8 scale. This was totally a hand fabricated model, many hours, long nights.
